Terms of Service

1. Eligibility

You must be old enough to enter into a binding contract under the laws of your jurisdiction. If you are below the age of majority, you may use the App only with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.

We do not knowingly allow children under the following ages to use the App without verified parental consent: 13 (United States, COPPA), 14 (Republic of Korea, PIPA), 16 (European Union, GDPR; may be lower per Member State).

2. License to Use the App

Subject to your compliance with these Terms and your purchase of a valid copy through an authorized app store, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to download and use the App on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial entertainment.

This license does not grant you any rights in the App's source code, design, artwork, music, or any underlying intellectual property beyond what is necessary to play the game.

3. Game Account & Progress

3.1 Platform Account

The App integrates with Apple Game Center (iOS) and Google Play Games Services (Android) to provide leaderboards and progress sync. Your use of those services is governed by Apple's and Google's respective terms.

3.2 Leaderboard & Cloud Save

Run scores, seasonal rankings, and optional cloud saves are stored on our servers. We may reset leaderboards at the start of each new season and may archive or delete old-season data. What data we collect and how long we keep it is explained in the Privacy Policy.

3.3 Account Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing us (see Section 13). Deletion is irreversible and removes your leaderboard history.

4. No Ads, No In-App Purchases

The main edition of Dungeon Tracer is premium: a single upfront purchase with no advertisements and no in-app purchases. We do not sell virtual currency, loot boxes, cosmetics, subscriptions, or any form of in-game paid item in this edition.

If this ever changes, we will update these Terms and the Privacy Policy accordingly and provide reasonable notice.

5. Purchases & Refunds

You purchase the App through a third-party storefront (Apple App Store, Google Play, or Steam). Those stores are the seller of record and handle payment, receipts, and refunds under their own policies:

Please direct all refund requests to the store where you made the purchase. We cannot issue refunds directly.

6. Intellectual Property

All content in the App — including source code, game design, artwork, characters, names, music, sound effects, UI, text, and trademarks — is owned by ROOT GAMES or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any such rights to you.

You may capture screenshots and gameplay video for non-commercial personal use, streaming, or content creation (e.g., YouTube, Twitch), provided you do not misrepresent the work as your own or modify it to imply our endorsement.

7. Community Translation Contributions

We operate a community translation program where volunteers (typically via our Discord server) can submit suggested translations at dungeontracer.com/localization.

7.1 Your License to Us

By submitting a translation suggestion, you represent that it is your own original work (or properly licensed), and you grant ROOT GAMES a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, and distribute the suggestion as part of the App, promotional materials, and any successor or derivative works, without further compensation.

7.2 Public Attribution

If your suggestion is accepted, the name or nickname you provided at submission time may be listed publicly (for example, on the Translation Contributors page) as credit for your contribution. You may request anonymization or removal of your name at any time by emailing us.

7.3 Moderation

We may accept, reject, edit, or remove any submission at our discretion. Suggestions that are abusive, hateful, infringing, illegal, spam, machine-translation abuse, or otherwise violate these Terms may be deleted and the submitter's access restricted.

8. Prohibited Conduct

You agree that you will not:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, tamper with, or attempt to extract source code or assets from the App, except to the extent expressly permitted by applicable law;
• Cheat, use unauthorized modifications, bots, memory editors, or any tool that alters gameplay, inflates scores, or bypasses security;
• Exploit bugs or vulnerabilities for unfair advantage or to disrupt service for other players;
• Attempt to access other users' accounts, data, or our servers without authorization;
• Interfere with or overload our servers (including brute-force, scraping at abusive rates, or denial-of-service attacks);
• Submit false, misleading, or infringing content, including translation suggestions;
• Harass, threaten, or abuse other users, staff, or community moderators (including on our Discord);
• Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation.

We may suspend or terminate your access, invalidate scores, and refer serious abuse to law enforcement.

9. Third-Party Services

The App and website use a minimal set of third-party services:

• Apple Game Center — account sign-in and leaderboard (iOS)
• Google Play Games Services — account sign-in and leaderboard (Android)
• Server hosting — Vultr (Republic of Korea)
• Google Fonts — web typography only on our website

Your use of those services is subject to each provider's own terms. We are not responsible for third-party services except as required by law.

10. Service Changes & Termination

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the App, the leaderboard service, or any feature at any time. Where feasible, we will provide advance notice of significant changes (for example, season resets or server sunset). We may terminate or suspend your access for violations of these Terms or for legal, security, or operational reasons, with or without notice where reasonable.

If we discontinue the online leaderboard, the single-player experience is designed to remain playable offline on your device.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. We do not warrant that leaderboard data will be preserved indefinitely or that the App will be compatible with every device or OS version.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

12. Limitation of Liability & Indemnification

12.1 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ROOT GAMES and its owners, employees, and affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising from or related to your use of the App, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the App shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) five U.S. dollars (USD 5). This limitation does not apply to liability that cannot be excluded by law (such as liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or personal injury where applicable).

12.2 Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless ROOT GAMES from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms, your misuse of the App, or your infringement of any third-party rights.

13. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute shall be brought exclusively in the Seoul Central District Court, unless a mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence grants you the right to bring the case in your local courts (in which case that right is preserved).

Nothing in this section limits any statutory right of consumers under applicable law.

14. Miscellaneous

• Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force.
• No waiver. Our failure to enforce any right is not a waiver of that right.
• Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the App and supersede any prior agreements on the same subject.
• Assignment. You may not assign or transfer these Terms. We may assign them as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, or to an affiliate.
• Notices. We may provide notices in the App, on our website, or by email. You should keep your contact email current.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, provide reasonable advance notice (for example, via our website or within the App where feasible). Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
